Reinventing Rita’s Post Divorce Tip #9

It’s Time to Re-Build Your Self-Esteem

There is no question about it, if you have been through a divorce, your self-esteem will take a huge hit below the belt. You ex-spouse may have been hard on you but I’m sure you were even harder on yourself. Even if you were the one to initiate the divorce, your feelings about your value and worth will be shaken. It’s now time to get your feelings back on track. Your future happiness is counting on it. Me personally, I was hit with a double whammy. I was going through my divorce at the same time I had a baby. My confidence was the lowest of the low and the post partum blues set in pretty fast. It was a long recovery for me, but it doesn’t have to be for you. The following article entitled HOW TO REBUILD YOUR SENSE OF SELF-WORTH AFTER A BREAKUP has some wonderful ideas on how to bounce back from low confidence as a result of a divorce. The article outlines six steps to start the road to recovery. The six steps are:

  • Realize you are not the many things that your ex (or others) said about you.
  • Be extraordinarily compassionate to yourself.
  • Forgive yourself for mistakes and forgive your ex for the pain caused.
  • Create space for healing and love.
  • Create a no-negativity zone.
  • Be kinder to others.

Of course each point is discussed in detail in the article so please go to the link right here http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-20275/how-to-rebuild-your-sense-of-worth-after-a-breakup.html to read more.

Remember, post divorce tip number 9: if you are ever to enjoy any semblance of happiness ever again, whether it is alone or with another partner, you much take the time to rebuild your self-worth. How can anyone else love you if you don’t FIRST love yourself? Also, if you have children, remember, they learn by example. They are intelligent little copycats. If you don’t see yourself and believe that you are a loving, confident, valuable person, then it will be hard to inspire those traits in your children.
